PhD PROGRAMME IN URBAN DESIGN, PLANNING AND DESIGN (UPDP)
**ADDITIONAL CALL 37th CYCLE (2021) **
The UPDP PhD programme grants 3 additional PhD positions to start in November 2021.
The three thematic scholarships are the following:
- Winter Olympics and sustainable development: planning challenges and opportunities
- Agro-social parks as multifunctional infrastructures: a design-based research
- Outdoor climate retrofitting: urban analysis, design and policy solutions for the mitigation of urban temperatures and improvement of citizens' well-being and comfort
PhD scholarships include a full tuition and fees waiver.

ABOUT UPDP PhD PROGRAMME
The UPDP PhD programme aims to explore the significance and impact of contemporary urban changes and understand how they can be governed through planning, design, and policy-making activities. By establishing a dialogue with the best European and International schools, this PhD programme is the place for research and innovative approaches to urban studies, spatial planning and urban design. Based on a multi-disciplinary approach, the main objective of educational activity and the individual research training is to offer PhD students a challenging environment, a space for international debate and research, experimentation and innovation. The PhD programme is based in the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies at Politecnico di Milano taking advantage of its rich research milieu and resources.
