China’s evolving urban and regional policies and new thinking about sustainable development have attracted worldwide attention. Following successful international conferences on China’s Urban Development and Planning in 2007 and 2008 (sponsored by China’s Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development), the third annual IACP conference will be held in Nanjing, China. The event is supported by Nanjing University and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Nanjing University, the local host, is a top-ranked university in China and a recognized leader in urban planning education. Nanjing was the capital city of six dynasties, a city with rich historical heritage and major tourism attraction.
