We are recruiting two positions: one Associate Professor and one Assistant Professor in Urban Planning. Based in the Department of Geography and Environment, you will contribute to the intellectual life of the School through conducting and publishing outstanding quality research, engaging in high-quality teaching as instructed by the Head of Department, and participating in the School and wider Department activities. You will also be joining a longstanding and successful MSc programme in Regional and Urban Planning Studies, which has strong international student demand and which enjoys an active alumni network.
As an Assistant/Associate Professor, you will have expertise and research interests in urban planning: specifically in one or more of the following areas: Planning for Sustainable Cities, Land use Planning Regulation, and/or Planning Law.
Assistant Professor candidates will have, or be close to obtaining, a PhD in urban planning or a relevant field by the post start date. You will have proven ability, as evidenced by existing publications, or potential to publish, in top journals in planning or closely related fields and a clear, well-developed and viable strategy for future outstanding research. You will have the ability to teach planning courses at the graduate level. An ability to teach human/urban geography courses at the undergraduate level is desirable.
Associate Professor candidates will have a PhD in urban planning or a relevant field. You will have a track record of publishing in top journals in planning and/or related fields as well as a clear, well-developed strategy for sustained high-quality research. You will have a significant track record of excellence in teaching urban planning at the graduate level as well as a willingness to act as MSc Programme Director. An ability to teach human/urban geography courses at the undergraduate level is desirable.
