The new formats include:
• OpenEd / Outlook
An open editorial forum offering forward-looking reflections on emerging issues, frontier topics, or possible future scenarios in planning and urban studies.
• Portraits of Place
A thematic section devoted to exploring cities, regions, or territories as living laboratories of cultural, social, and spatial transformation. Each contribution will offer a distinctive lens—historical, theoretical, artistic, or experiential—through which to understand a particular urban context.
• Cross Reviews
A dialogic review format featuring paired or comparative assessments that open new perspectives on central debates in the field.
• Symposium Highlights
A synthesis section covering scientific events organized by AESOP member institutions, focusing on themes relevant to the journal’s areas of interest.
• Scientific Legacies
A section introducing authors who have published little or not at all in English but who have been highly influential in their national contexts. Contributions may include partial translations to make these significant voices accessible to a wider readership.
We kindly ask you to circulate this information among AESOP members and to encourage colleagues to submit proposals for articles or special issues. We warmly welcome expressions of interest across all of these new formats.
Please do not hesitate to contact the editorial board for any further information or clarification.
