AESOP is seeking a new Editor-in-Chief for its journal, Transactions of the Association of European Schools of Planning, starting on 1 August 2025 for a period of 5 years, until 31 July 2030.

Transactions is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal owned and produced by AESOP. It plays a key role in promoting excellence in planning education and research—central goals of AESOP. The journal complements AESOP’s rich ecosystem of academic exchange, including annual congresses, thematic group activities, and Heads of Schools workshops, by offering a scholarly platform for disseminating research, innovative practices, and critical reflections.

Role of the Editor-in-Chief

In collaboration with the Editorial Board, the Editor-in-Chief will be responsible for:

  • Chairing and renewing the Editorial Board

  • Shaping the journal’s editorial policy and vision

  • Managing the manuscript process from submission to final decision (including reviewer coordination, overseeing peer review, and final editorial decisions)

  • Liaising with the production team to uphold the highest publication standards

  • Promote the journal through multiple communication channels, to increase its readership as well as the number and quality of submissions

The selection of the most suitable candidate will take place in the occasion of the AESOP Council of Representatives (CoRep) Meeting, scheduled on 7 July 2025 during the Istanbul Annual Congress. In that occasion, applicants will be required to deliver a 5-minutes presentation of their profile and motivation.
