Council of Representatives, during the meeting on 5th May 2012 in Oslo, decided about following issues:

1. AESOP NEW CHARTER
The new Charter was approved and came into force. The new Charter is available for download here.

2. AESOP EVENT OFFICER
The decision about the new Event Officer, being also a new ExCo member, was ratified. Prof. Gerhard Schimak (TU Vienna) will take the office for the mandatory period 2012-2016. Prof. Schimak will start his duties as the AESOP Event Officer on 16th July 2012. At the same moment, prof. Pantelis Skayannis (University of Thessaly, Volos) will step down from the position of the Event Officer and complete his mission.

3. AESOP CONGRESS 2014
The Secretary General got two bids for hosting the AESOP Congress in 2014. The applications came from the TU Dortmund (in cooperation with ILS Dortmund) and the University of Utrecht (in cooperation with University of Delft), and both presented very ambitious content. Prof. Luuk Boelens presented the bid on behalf of the Univeristy of Utrecht and Prof. Thorsten Wiechmann presented the bid of behalf of the TU Dortmund.
The ExCo, greatly appreciating both tenders, did not recommend any of them to the Council.
The result of voting was: 17 votes for the University of Utrecht and 11 votes for the TU Dortmund.
The 2014 AESOP Congress will take place in Utrecht.
The Council of Representatives and the ExCo would like to express a word of gratitude to both the TU Dortmund and the University of Utrecht for their outstanding work and commitment.

4. HORIZON 2020: THE EU FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME FOR RESEARCH AND INNOVATION 2014-2020
The next EU research programme succeeding FP7 is called Horizon 2020. Within this framework PLANNING is not named as an autonomous discipline.
On behalf of AESOP, the President presented the letter to the National Representatives in the EU Parliament to be addressed to the Euroepan Commission. The letter was approved by the Council.
The letter stresses the importance of planning as an autonomous research discipline within the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation 2014-2020.
Everybody, especially members of the AESOP Council of Representatives, are encouraged to address their National Representatives in the EU Parliament in this respect.

5. AESOP HEADS OF SCHOOLS MEETING 2013
The next AESOP Heads of School Meeting 2013 will take place in Gdańsk, Poland, in April 2013.

6. 27th Joint AESOP-ACSP Congress 2013
The next AESOP Congress will be a joint event with The Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP). After the joint congress in 2008 in Chicago, the next event will take place in Europe, in Dublin, Republic of Ireland. 27th Joint AESOP-ACSP Congress will take place on 15-19 July 2013.
