We are delighted to announce that the AESOP Council of Representatives, during its meeting in Liverpool, has officially approved the proposal submitted by TU Wien (Austria) and Brno University of Technology (Czech Republic) to host the AESOP PhD Workshop 2026.

Workshop Theme: Spatial Planning at the Fringes
This thought-provoking theme invites PhD students to explore spatial, social, ecological, political, and methodological "fringes"—those often-overlooked or marginalized areas that offer fertile ground for planning innovation and research.

Location:
The workshop will take place in the historic Drosendorf Castle, nestled in the picturesque Waldviertel region of Austria. Its unique setting is ideal for academic dialogue, collaboration, and creative reflection.

Organisers:
The event is coordinated by a joint Local Organizing Committee from TU Wien and BUT, composed of esteemed academics and researchers committed to nurturing the next generation of planning scholars.

When:
The workshop is scheduled for 22–25 September 2026 (TBC) and will include keynote lectures, parallel mentoring sessions, a field trip to Znojmo, and peer-feedback paper clinics.

We warmly thank TU Wien and Brno University of Technology for their proposal and commitment. We are excited to see this promising workshop come to life!

Stay tuned for updates and application details on the AESOP website.
