The candidate will have to contribute to the research programme regarding regional development. Head of the Programme is prof. dr. Gert de Roo. The research in the Programme on regional development is done by spatial planners, geographers and academics with a focus on decision-making. Various topics emerge within the Programme, such as: the design of alternative spatial-economic concepts; designing new perspectives for regional development; theoretical and empirical underpinning of the diversity of urban-rural relationships; peri-urban developments from an international perspective. With these issues the Programme wants to contribute to debate regarding transitions, to identifying trends and to understand regional development.
