ESRC Ph.D. Studentships, School of the Built Environment, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh

Two ESRC Quota Award PhD. Studentships are available from September 2009 in Heriot-Watt University’s School of the Built Environment (SBE).  The School has a strong track record in undertaking policy-oriented research for central government departments and related bodies in England and Wales, as well as in Scotland. It was highly-rated in the area of Urban Studies in the recent national Research Assessment Exercise where 20% of relevant SBE research was classed as ‘world leading’ and a further 30% ‘internationally excellent’.  Specific areas of expertise include housing, planning, real estate, regeneration, equalities, rapid urbanisation and international human settlements.
