This intensive teaching and research training program in urban studies, spatial planning and development may be a unique opportunity. It is open to Doctoral students, Master students (II level Master), Post-doctoral students, Researchers or Professionals seeking to refresh their academic knowledge. Based on three forms of training (structured lectures, self-standing presentations and an interactive post-graduate research seminar), this program focuses on European planning theory and practice, but also devotes a considerable attention to comparisons with regions outside Europe.
The international environment of the EMSDP – including teachers, other professionals and students – offers a common European ‘home’, fostering the formation of a truly cosmopolitan social capital, based on the respect of diversity within a shared approach. At the same time, the integrated ‘European’ type of knowledge and expertise nurtured within the program – which has reached its 20th edition – represents an asset for professional careers, especially in an enlarged ‘Europe of regions’, that is opening itself at great speed to other regions in the world.
