The Lecture took place on 26th November 2015, hosted by Berlin University of Technology (TU Berlin) and co-organised with Leibniz Institute for Regional Development and Structural Planning (IRS).
The evening started with the welcome address by Angela Million, followed by the short introduction to the Lecture Series by Izabela Mironowicz, who is responsible for this flagship AESOP activity, established to mark our Silver Jubilee in 2012. We were happy to welcome at the lecture a group of students from the University of New South Wales in Sydney visiting Berlin with their professors.

Speakers:
Ann Singleton is Senior Research Fellow at the School for Policy Studies, University of Bristol. Her work focuses on international migration data, the production of knowledge on migration and the development of migration and asylum policy. She has advised the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Council of Ministers and EU Presidencies, national governments, NGOs and international organisations. Between 1996 and 2002 she developed the Eurostat database on international migration and asylum. From 2002 to 2004 she was responsible for policy on statistics in the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Justice and Home Affairs. She wrote the European Commission’s Action Plans on migration and asylum statistics, prepared the first EU online annual report on migration and asylum and pioneered, with Eurostat, the first EU legislation on statistics on migration and international protection. Ann Singleton is also Advisory Board member of the Migration Observatory at the University of Oxford, Scientific Advisory Board member of the National Center of Competence in Research at the University of Neuchâtel and on secondment from the University of Bristol to the IOM Global Migration Data Analysis Centre (GMDAC), Berlin, where she will be supporting capacity-building in data collection, visibility and analysis. Her talk aims on answering the question of how national statistical data on migration and asylum can help to inform city-level policies.
Engelbert Lütke Daldrup is Permanent Secretary for Building and Housing in the Senate Department for Urban Development and the Environment Berlin since 2014. He was honorary professor at the universities of Berlin and Leipzig in 2009. After that, Engelbert Lütke Daldrup has been Managing Director of the Agency for Urban Development (AfS Agentur für Stadtentwicklung GmbH) in Berlin and Managing Director of the International Building Exhibition, IBA Thüringen GmbH in Weimar. He started his carreer in the Senate Department for Building and Housing Berlin, at first at the department for Urban Development and Housing and has been head of division for the Capital City Development of Berlin Berlin since 1992. From 1995 to 2005 he has been Councillor of the Department for Urban Development and Building in Leipzig and State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development from 2006 until 2009. He has also been Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Federal Foundation for Building Culture. Besides that, he is supervisory board member of several housing associations and airport coordinator of the Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH for the Federal State of Berlin.
