AESOP CONGRESS ANNUAL CONGRESS 2022 - INVITATION & CALL FOR PAPERS

We are very pleased to invite you to Tartu, Estonia for the
AESOP Annual Congress 2022 - to finally meet in person and to welcome you in a Baltic State for the first time!

The congress brings together the most important parties in this research field.

The main purpose is to create a space for the participants to present their research
and exchange experiences.

The AESOP Annual Congress will take place on 25-29 July 2022 in Tartu, Estonia.

The PhD workshop is held on July 20-23 in Narva on the Russian border.

The theme for next year’s congress is 'Space for Species: Redefining Spatial Justice'.
The idea behind the title is to explore living space concerning different species and areas of expertise.
Under this title, we aim to unite the aspects of legislation and justice, technological solutions and developments,
smart cities, and cultural spaces. It is high time to consider space for all species, especially as many are going extinct at an alarming rate.

We would love for you to share your knowledge and ideas on the topic and learn about the latest developments in planning. The congress is also a great opportunity to network and meet new people with similar mindsets.

The congress is organised by the Estonian University of Life Sciences, the University of Tartu, Tallinn University, the Tallinn University of Technology, the Estonian Academy of Arts, the Estonian Association of Spatial Planners, and Publicon PCO.

Tartu is a beautiful Baltic city, combining the old and new, such as Soviet apartment districts and smart buildings, while still feeling familiar and homely. It is home to Estonia’s oldest university, the University of Tartu, which was founded in 1632. Tartu is especially scenic in the summer, due to our many green initiatives and beautiful Old Town. It is also incredibly easy to get around, thanks to our electric bikes and scooters.

Save the dates and see you in Estonia!

Associate Professor Evelin Jürgenson
Chair of the Local Organising Committee
