The Conference Officer (CO) is a Member of the Executive Committee of AESOP with responsibility to support the launch of major events in which AESOP is directly involved (e.g. the Annual Congress, the PhD Workshop, the Heads of School Meeting); oversee the progress of the LOC in the above events; liaise with the ExCo and LOC for timely decisions and report on the preparation of major events to ExCo and CoRep.

The Conference Officer has to be an academic from one of the AESOP Member schools. They have to be fluent in English and competent in cooperation and communication skills. Involvement in current or past AESOP activities will be an additional advantage.
The position is for 4 years. As an Executive Committee (ExCo) member, the Conference Officer is entitled to reimbursement of travel and accommodation expenses associated with oversight of AESOP events and participation in ExCo meetings. In this respect, the Conference Officer has to be prepared to travel 2-3 times a year to attend ExCo meetings.
The new Conference Officer will be expected to shadow the current Conference Officer in guiding the preparation of the AESOP Congress in Paris, in July 2024. Our current Conference Officer Prof. Alex Deffner will be happy to share his knowledge and experience with the newly elected CO during the last months of his mandatory period.
The election procedure might include a pre-selection of the candidates by the Executive Committee. The election will be by the Council of Representatives at the Head of Schools Meeting in Venice, in March 2024.
