Recently, there have been multiple reports of phishing and fraud attempts targeting our members via email and this time via phone calls.
They are using the identity of GPEAN members and the AESOP president.
Here are some key points to be aware of:

When you receive a PHONE CALL from persons claiming they have been invited to call you by an AESOP/GPEAN contact, IT IS most likely a FRAUD ATTEMPT. ALWAYS verify the identity of the person calling, as well as contact the person who is mentioned as having indicated your name.
- Avoid Suspicious Links: Do not click on any links or download attachments from emails that seem suspicious or unexpected, especially if they ask for personal information or account details.
- Beware of Urgent or Threatening Language: Phishing emails often use urgency or threats to manipulate you into taking action quickly. If you receive an email that makes you feel pressured to act immediately, take a step back and verify its authenticity.
- Verify Requests for Sensitive Information: Be sceptical of any email requesting sensitive information like your password, credit card details, or Social Security number. Legitimate organizations will never ask for such information via email.
