We are thrilled to welcome you to the 2025 AESOP PhD Workshop, hosted by Yildiz Technical University in Istanbul, from 2 to 5 July 2025. This year’s workshop will explore the theme: “Planning for Equitable and Just Futures: Exploring Transformative Approaches,” in connection with the broader theme of the AESOP Annual Congress: “Planning as Transformative Action in an Age of Planetary Crises.”
As our societies face profound challenges ranging from climate change and social inequalities to resource depletion and rapid urbanization, planning has a critical role in shaping equitable and just futures. This workshop provides a unique platform for doctoral researchers to present and refine their work while engaging in dynamic discussions on transformative planning approaches. Through these conversations, we aim to address pressing global crises and foster solutions that prioritize equity, inclusivity, and sustainability.
Set in the heart of Istanbul—a city renowned for its cultural richness, historical significance, and vibrant urban dynamics—the workshop offers an inspiring setting to reflect on the complexities of urban challenges.
