Francesco Musco

Francesco Musco is full professor of Urban planning and design, and Iuav’s Director of Research. Supporter of a multidisciplinary approach to city and environmental planning, he finalised his research activity on the relationship between urban planning, sustainability and resilience, with particular attention to sustainable urban regeneration processes and the implementation of local plans and their contribution to a “climate-proof planning”. In 2011, he funded the Planning & Climate Change Lab providing applied research to support innovation in planning and design for resilient cities, to implement urban resilience at the international level. He published more than 190 articles and scientific products and coordinated more than 30 international research projects granted by the European Commission.

Laura Fregolent

Laura Fregolent

Laura Fregolent is full professor of Urban and regional planning and coordinator of Iuav bachelor degree in Planning and urban design. Her research and scientific collaborations refer to the field of urban studies, specifically urban and territorial transformations, the related social dynamics, and the policies to govern such processes. In recent years, her research has focused on the housing issues, with the city of Venice – at the intersection of dynamics of depopulation, ageing and touristification – as the premier area of investigation. She coordinates Iuav research cluster H-City. Housing in the city, and is co-director of the Italian Journal Archivio di Studi Urbani e Regionali (Archive of Urban and Regional Studies).

Matteo Basso

Matteo Basso

Matteo Basso is assistant professor of Urban and regional planning. His research interests broadly refer to the analysis of urban, territorial and landscape transformations, and the design of spatial policies. He teaches at Iuav and the Venice International University. He is a member of the board of Iuav School of doctoral studies, specifically of the regional planning and public policy track. He is a member of the scientific committee of VAULT study centre, a part of Iuav Infrastructure of Research Integral Design Environment. He has been a visiting scholar at the University of Westminster, London and the College of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University, Shanghai.

Filippo Magni

Filippo Magni

Filippo Magni is assistant professor of Urban and regional planning. Through a multidisciplinary approach, his research focuses on the need to redesign urban planning tools, recognised as the main vectors capable of increasing greater resilience to climate change. He is the scientific co-coordinator of the Interreg ITA-CRO project ADRIADAPT, and of the technical-scientific consultancy unit for the implementation of the climate strategies of the municipalities of the Lombardy region, activated by Iuav and Cariplo Foundation. Previously he coordinated the technical support unit for the Interreg MED 2014-2020 projects COEVOLVE and LIFE MASTER ADAPT. Since 2020, with Matelda Reho, he has been the institutional representative of Università Iuav di Venezia at the Regional Landscape Observatory.
